Happy first day of summer everyone. Fitting that it’s the end of June and it was 52 and rainy in Chicago yesterday. I come here today to talk about something that I’m sure everyone can relate to: being a home owner. No? Just me? Well then let me educate you on something. It fucking stinks. Allow me to explain. The windows in my place are old. Like segregation old. During the winter my condo got pretty cold, so cold to the point where I had to cover the windows in bubble wrap to prevent the cold air from coming in. Naturally when something doesn’t work the way it is supposed to, what do you do? You replace it. That’s what I wanted to do. So I had a window company come out to solve my problem. I ordered the windows and they were set to install them on Monday. They didn’t, because the HOA (Home Owners Association for you rent payers out there) blocked the installation. They said because the building I live in is so old, it has historical significance, and that means the exterior windows have to be wooden and have to match. Pretty much means I have to use these old ass windows to honor a building that was built during World War I. It’s not like anything cool happened at this condo either. My condo is acting like Abraham Lincoln signed the law to end slavery in my condo’s courtyard of something. I have to endure the cold weather because my building is old. It’s a load of shit.
